Rugby World Cup 2011

The countdown is on and there is growing excitement here in New Zealand as the Rugby World Cup 2011 draws ever nearer. Starting on the 9th September the event will run for six weeks, with the final in Auckland on the 23rd October. Games will be hosted in twenty three locations spread across the North and the South Island, from Dunedin and Invercargil in the south of the South Island to New Plymouth and even Whangarei in the far north. It’s a great excuse to visit this spectacular country - take some time between games to view the fantastic scenery and landscapes, kick back and enjoy the kiwi hospitality, and of course watch some world class rugby.

New Zealand is a hive of activity in preparation for this event, and Auckland, the main Superyachting hub, is developing its water front area with a new Events Centre and a marina facility capable of taking yachts up to 90 metres. With Auckland being the main host city for this tournament the centrally located superyacht berths would be a great option for your stay!

Rugby is a much-loved sport here in New Zealand and the Kiwis are proud of their team! With the All Blacks going out in the Quarter Finals in the previous Rugby World Cup in 2007 New Zealand is keen to see their team rise again to its former glory. You haven’t seen the Kiwi Haka until you have seen it live on New Zealand soil!
