The weather god’s made good on their promise as the sun shined on Gulf Harbour Country Club, just outside Auckland, last week. Integrated Marine Group were hosting a golf tournament for local marine companies and yacht crews. A group of 28 turned out to play on what is a truly fantastic course.
After a meet and greet over morning tea and a briefing by the Proshop the teams took to their carts to commence the day with a shotgun start. With Ambrose rules in play a mixture of competence was split through the teams, with complete beginners to handicaps of 9! As a result, some took their golfing very seriously, whilst others were more interested when the drinks cart would be passing by again! The course was a spectacular setting for the signage from the various sponsors supporting the day’s events, including a Southern Pacific Inflatable on the 8th tee.
At the end of the day the teams learnt how they’d faired over yet more drinks and canapés. Results were as follows:
Longest drive |
William Erikssen |
Neat Meat Company |
Nearest the pin |
Michael Coventry |
General Marine Services |
Overall results taking Handicap into account:
First place |
Bill Speedy & Dean O’Cass from Oceanbridge |
|
paired with Michael Coventry & Roy Charlton |
Second place |
Paul Grbich & Stephen Boyle from White Refrigeration |
|
paired with William Erikssen and Simon Erikssen from Neat Meat |
Third Place |
David Low & Mark Wightman from Integrated Marine Group |
|
& Captain Andre Engblom of Adele & Captain Barry de Kock |
All in all a successful and enjoyable day on the course. Captain Barry de Kock said of the day “Thank you so much [Integrated Marine Group] for organizing yesterday. It was a truly an amazing day!” and Maryanne Pope from Glengarry’s said “Thanks to ... everyone at IMG for a great day! It was great to meet everyone and a privilege to play on such a gorgeous course.”
We would like to thank all sponsors and participants for making this a fantastic day! General feedback is that everyone is keen for this event to be repeated next year on an even larger scale, so watch this space for dates!!
